Two Occupants Released By Paramedics After Small Plane Crashes In Northwest Suburbs Officials Say

Two Hurt in Small Plane Crash in Northwest Suburbs

Two people were taken to a hospital after a small plane crashed in the northwest suburbs Saturday, officials said.

The single-engine Cessna 172 went down in a field near the intersection of Algonquin and Higgins roads in unincorporated Palatine Township about 11:30 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane had taken off from Schaumburg Regional Airport minutes earlier.

The two occupants of the plane were able to get out of the wreckage on their own and were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
