Amanda Jetté Knox: A Voice for the LGBTQ+ Community

From Canadian Writer to Transgender Ally

WEB Amanda Jetté Knox is an award-winning Canadian writer and author of the best-selling memoir Love Lives Here. Formerly known as Amanda, Knox has since transitioned and now identifies as Rowan. Rowan's journey as a transgender person has profoundly impacted their writing, and they have become a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Supporting Family and Finding Voice

Rowan's experiences supporting both their child and spouse after they came out as transgender have shaped their perspective on gender and identity. They have used their writing to share their family's story and to promote understanding and acceptance of transgender people. Rowan's entry into the CBC Nonfiction Prize competition ultimately led to their decision to transition, and it has provided a platform for them to share their story with a wider audience.
