Oilers Win Game 2 in Overtime, Tie Series with Kings
The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in overtime in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Monday night. Evan Bouchard scored the game-winning goal at 1:23 of the extra period, assisted by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Oilers Take Early Lead, Kings Battle Back
The Oilers took an early 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. However, the Kings responded with two goals of their own in the second period to tie the game.
McDavid, Draisaitl Set Up Bouchard's Winner
In the third period, McDavid and Draisaitl combined to set up Bouchard for the game-winning goal. Bouchard's shot from the point beat Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick high to the glove side.
Oilers Move On, Kings Face Elimination
With the win, the Oilers take a 1-1 tie in the series and will host Game 3 in Edmonton on Wednesday night. The Kings, meanwhile, will need to win Game 3 to avoid elimination.
