Bayer Leverkusen Reaches DFB-Pokal Semi-Finals with Epic Comeback
Late Heroics Secure Victory over VfB Stuttgart
Unbeaten Streak Continues for Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen extended their unbeaten run to 30 matches across all competitions with a thrilling 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals. Despite conceding an early goal, Leverkusen rallied to secure a hard-fought come-from-behind victory.
Stuttgart opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Serhou Guirassy's strike. However, Leverkusen showed their resilience and equalized through Adam Hložek's goal on the stroke of halftime.
The second half was equally intense, with Stuttgart regaining the lead through Luca Pfeiffer's 59th-minute goal. Yet again, Leverkusen refused to be defeated and leveled through Moussa Diaby's effort in the 73rd minute.
With the match seemingly destined for extra time, Leverkusen found a dramatic winner deep into injury time. Florian Wirtz's stunning strike in the 92nd minute sent the Werkself into raptures and secured their place in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals.
The victory maintains Leverkusen's unbeaten record this season, solidifying their status as one of the most in-form teams in Europe. They will now face the winner of the match between Bayern Munich and Darmstadt 98 in the semi-finals.
